Girls Making Comics

Comics writer Scott McCloud posted to twitter a link for Girls Making Comics. They have set up a kickstarter donation page for the printing of their comic they are creating. Here is what Ursula Murray Husted, who is running the program, said about it:

Recently I ran a comics workshop for teenage girls hosted by the Altered Esthetics Gallery in Northeast Minneapolis. It was amazing. This group of 10 girls, aged 13-16, was so excited about making comics that they gave up their spring breaks to attend the three-day workshop. That’s dedication. Each girl designed their own characters and used their own style to adapt a piece of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The work they did was amazing and I’m so proud of them. I organized the workshop to support the new generation of women cartoonists and here’s your chance to do the same. This kickstarter is to raise money to collect their comics in a full color bound volume. We would really appreciate your help to make their vision a reality.

So there you have it. I supported them, will you too? Here is their kickstarter page to donate and learn more….
