It’s almost the 4th of July!
In my former hometown of Seward, Alaska, it is a big holiday. The little town of approx. 3000 increases to almost 30,000 for the festivities. The highlight is the Mount Marathon race. The racers run up and down the 3022 ft Mount Marathon that overlooks the town of Seward. My family runs in it almost every year. My sister has won the Women’s Race and my niece the Junior race. When I ran the Junior race in the late 80’s it was not near as popular as it is today. Now there is a lottery held just to get a race number for the adult races. Someday, I hope to get back up there to watch it live again. Although, now with the internet, I can see it on live streaming. Good luck to my family and friends who are in the races!
Have a Happy 4th of July!
