It’s the end of February, and time for a check in on the 12×12 in 2012 challenge. Some of you may remember this, but for those who don’t I will explain. The 12×12 in 2012 challenge was started by author Julie Hedlund on her blog, Write Up My Life. I met Julie during the PiBoIdMo (Picture Book Idea Month) challenge last November. She is also a regular contributor to Perfect Picture Book Fridays. The idea of the challenge is to write 12 picture book manuscripts, beginning to end. One each month. Last month, I wrote Penny and the Rose. It was a fun story starring our beloved pet rat, Penny, who had recently died. I sent it in to Rate Your Story and received excellent feedback on it.
This month, I wrote a story from one of my PiBo ideas. It’s entitled, If I Could Have Anything and is a daydream story about a child, a horse and an alien! It was fun to write because of some of the humorous elements in it. I think it would also work as a children’s comic, and I might explore that further.
